Scheduled Symposia

Advances in Conservation Science

This symposium marks the official opening of the undergraduate component of SERMACS 2007. Conservation Science is an area that relates directly to the theme for the Undergraduate Programming - "Chemistry in the Arts" and we are pleased to have three individuals from this field presenting research in their area of expertise. These presentations are also well aligned with the National Chemistry Week theme of "The Many Faces of Chemistry". Alternate careers in chemistry is one facet of the NCW theme and this look into the field of conservation science provides one great example of an alternate career in chemistry.

Afternoon Drop-in

Undergraduates are invited to a kick-off of the Meeting-in-Miniature activities hosted by the Furman University Student Affiliates. Come up to the second floor of the atrium outside the Teal room. There will be door prizes and other goodies!

Saturday

Saturday's program will start off with concurrent undergraduate poster and oral symposia, featuring nearly 150 undergraduate posters and over 15 oral presentations. A showcase of science artwork will take place during the symposia as well to highlight the often-juxtaposed topics of chemistry and artwork. A graduate school recruiting fair will also take place during the morning.

Follow the morning's programming, an Undergraduate Awards Luncheon will be held at Barley's in downtown Greenville. After lunch, an "Oxygen" matinee performance. will be held. Cost for both of these events is only $10.
